![]() The thing that separated them from each other, from what I could gather, was that Lawson was a warm hearted soul. It was as if the protagonist was schizophrenic and Lawson Wilks was his alter ego, similar to him in many ways. ![]() In the morning they look out their doors at each other simultaneously. The last scene is in the nursing home when the protagonist and the antagonist confront each other in their dreams and have riveting conversations and a wonderful time. Eventually, by chance, the two of them give in to alcoholism and insanity. This man by the name of Lawson Wilks respects the work of the unnamed protagonist and is incredibly warm towards him, trying to befriend him. “Rendezvous” was written by Morley Callaghan and is a story of a man who meets another man who he truly hates.
